IIT Bombay Empowering Women for the AI Revolution
This initiative from IIT Bombay is a crucial step towards fostering a more inclusive and diverse technology ecosystem. The technology sector, particularly in cutting-edge fields like AI, has long struggled with a significant gender imbalance. By creating a course exclusively for women, the institute is providing a tailored and encouraging space for them to learn, collaborate, and build a strong network.
The Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship (DSSE) at IIT Bombay, which is spearheading this program, recognizes that women entrepreneurs and professionals are vital to driving innovation. By equipping them with the tools of Generative AI, the course helps to dismantle barriers and unlock new opportunities. It’s an investment in a future where women are not just consumers of technology, but key drivers of its development and application.
In a notable finding from IIT Bombay’s ‘Senior Survey 2025,’ a recent report from the student media body, Insight, revealed that ChatGPT has emerged as a top resource for students seeking to acquire new skills. The survey, which gathered responses from 282 students, highlights a significant shift in learning trends at the institute.
Among the 272 students who responded to a question about their preferred methods for skill acquisition, a majority of 118 pointed to traditional online learning platforms, like Coursera. However, a surprising 65 students indicated that they use ChatGPT as a primary tool for learning new skills, making it the second most popular choice. In contrast, only 9 students mentioned relying on traditional library books. Visit the Data here
